Tennis courts 3 & 4 are getting a new layer of tarmac laid next week Mon 17-19 Aug.
Painting is scheduled for Wed 9th Sept.
This will involve moving the safety netting moving closer to court 2 and making court 2 unsafe to play on for 4 weeks.
ANY BALLS WHICH GO ONTO COURTS 3 or 4 CANNOT BE RETRIEVED. PLEASE DO NOT SET FOOT ON COURTS 3 & 4.
The facts:
1) The tarmac on tennis courts is softer than road tarmac and takes more time to cure, especially during hot periods.
2) During this time, foot prints on new soft tarmac will leave a mark which reduces the porosity and will lead to puddles in wet weather for the future.
3) Uncured tarmac can leave residue on trainers which would then be brought back onto court 1 & 2 damaging that surface.
We realise that this is very annoying for members who want to get out and play with friends over the August period. All I'd ask is for you to think about how well courts 1&2 are playing and to bear with us. Once the work is done we should have fabulous courts for the next 15 plus years with great drainage and playability.
