2025 Falmouth Sports Club Championships

A couple of weeks ago we enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of squash with the finals of the Club Championships. Two highly competitive matches rounded off this year’s tournament:

Main Cup Final: Jon Newton vs. Milan Escarcega

Plate Final: Tom Jay vs. Alan Pengelly

Congratulations to the winners – Jon, claiming his 4th title, and Tom, his 2nd plate – and well played to runners-up Milan and Alan.

For the second year running, the FSC Junior County Championship matches were sandwiched between the senior finals:

Final: Max vs. Jack

3rd/4th Play-off: Molly vs. Paddy

Both were exciting contests from our ever-improving crop of juniors. Congratulations to Max for winning and successfully defending his title.

We had a brilliant crowd, so a big thank you to everyone who came along to support the players and make it such a great day.

Team Squash – New Season Underway

The 2025 autumn squash season has kicked off, and Falmouth teams have made a promising start across all divisions.

Fal 1 started thier season with a convincing win over Newquay 1 in Division 1.
In Division 2, Fal 2 suffered a defeat in their first match against a tough Newquay 2 side, while a new look Fal 3 , started with a win against Truro 4.
In Division 3, Fal 5 had a mixed start, beating Fowey before losing out to Truro 5. Fal 4 were missing a few regulars, and fought hard but went down to a very strong Penzance 2 team.

Cornwall County Masters Squash Championships @ Truro Squash Club
Veteran players from across Cornwall will battle it out for the county masters titles. Registration will open soon, so if you are over 35, keep an eye out for posters and emails!

Saturday 20th December, from 1:00pm
Charity Fancy Dress Xmas Doubles Racketball
Join us for festive fun on court with a fancy dress charity doubles racketball event. Great prizes, food and drink, and plenty of Christmas spirit – all while raising money for a good cause. Grab your racket, your best costume, and get involved! Details to follow soon.

Ongoing Club Activities

Don’t forget – Squash & Racketball Club Night runs all year round, every Friday from 5pm. It’s a great way to meet other players, get on court, and enjoy some friendly games. The monthly box leagues are also ongoing – if you’d like to get involved, just email leagues@falmouthsportsclub.com.

Junior group coaching takes place on Saturday mornings during school the term, and private 1-to-1 or group coaching is available by arrangement. Speak to one of the club coaches or ask at the bar for more details.

It’s fantastic to see such a vibrant squash and racketball community here in Falmouth – long may it continue!
