Tennis Courts 1 & 2 CLOSED starting Tues 4th March

First Serve will be resurfacing Courts 1 &2 from Tuesday 4th March.

Both courts will be out of action for 5 weeks, more if the weather is bad. Any court bookings on 1 & 2 will not be honoured.

The court resurfacing project is unfortunately a long one. Once the new tarmac is laid it needs time to set. It will be fine to walk onto the courts to retrieve a ball but any heavy movement will compress the area under ones foot making it an area that does not drain well in the future.

Once the five weeks are up First Serve will draw temporary lines so the black courts can be used. When the tar has cured they will return and paint the courts, which will be another week of no use.

And the final piece of good news is that, if we have a hot summer, Courts 1&2 will be closed when the temperature gets too high (26oC), as this will make the new tar less solid.

The current courts have lasted 20 years so a couple of months of care will lead to years of great drainage.

We will keep you informed as we get information.

Des O'Reilly & Brian Dilks.
