Care for newly refurbished Tennis Courts

Dear [[firstname]]

Now that tennis courts 1 & 2 have been refurbished we have been asked by the contractors to share with all members the Playmac Court Care that we should all observe.

We recommend that you follow these guidelines to maximise the effective life of the new Playmac tennis courts.

1. Post-Construction - The surface will require time to cure during the first few months of its life. Normal use may be made of the court, but extra vigilance is necessary.

2. Hot Weather Play - The courts will become soft in the first year following construction and should also be checked thereafter.

3. Footwear - Do not use training shoes, running shoes, or footwear with rigid bars, studs, or sharp-edged soles. Black-soled shoes must not be used.

4. Snow and Ice - Remove soft, powdered snow with a soft broom only. Never use metal shovels, scrapers, mechanical snow removal equipment, salt, urea, or other chemical de-icing agents.

5. Bird Droppings - Remove immediately by washing with water. Prevent buildup by trimming overhanging branches.

6. Surface Cleaning & Maintenance - Keep the court clean and free from leaves and debris. Do not allow organic matter to break down on the surface. Wash the court at least once a year with hosed water and mild detergent. Apply moss killer annually.

7. Weeds - Maintain a vegetation-free zone of at least 2 feet around the external perimeter of the court. A weed killer has been applied during construction, but new growth should be treated immediately.

8. General Care - Keep cigarettes, chewing gum, petrol, oil, and solvents away from the surface, as they will cause damage.

9. Equipment - Umpire chairs, seats, and other heavy objects should not be placed directly on the court surface.

Thank you
FSC Committee
